Phosphates contribute to the overall cleansing effect of detergents by controlling the alkalinity of the environment. Having the correct pH helps to remove grease, protect against corrosion and prevent the re-settling of pollutants on the surface of the technological equipment you are cleaning. In order for the medium to be effective in the cleaning process, it is essential to have stable pH of the bath. Since alkaline detergents are capable of removing and cleaning acidic pH products, the pH of cleaning /baths that are used for several days or weeks may decrease especially in industrial cleaning. The use of phosphates in the alkaline detergents helps to maintain an optimum pH, which is thanks to the buffering capacity of phosphates.
Hard water causes a reduction in the flow capacity of cleaning solutions during industrial cleaning. By means of metal ions sequestration, phosphates soften water or precipitate and remove insoluble substances therefrom. This action will allow cleaning solutions to work properly and, as a result, reduce their concentration. Such reaction guarantees the proper function of the cleaning agents and therefore it is possible to reduce their concentrations In this manner, phosphates prevent both the redeposition of large particles, which were released from the cleaned surface, and the agglomeration of small particles, which remain suspended in the solution.
- softening of water and removal of insoluble substances and large particles in cleaning solutions for industrial cleaning
- pH stabilization of cleaning solutions for industrial cleaning
- removing grease
- protection against corrosion
- prevention of re-settling of pollutants
